Royale Energy (Pty) Ltd recently purchased two fuel storage depots from British Petroleum South Africa. The Langlaagte Depot is situated in the industrial area of Langlaagte, Gauteng, where the Klerksdorp Depot is located in Klerksdorp, North-West Province. Langlaagte and Klerksdorp are two hydrocarbon storage and distribution depots.
EPCM was awarded the project to carry out a technical due diligence study on both depots. The work involved full integrity review of 18 storage tanks in accordance with API 650 and 653. EPCM has also been awarded the EPC work and is currently completing engineering re-design, repair and recommissioning of the terminals. The project includes full repair of various leaking storage tanks, piping, pumps, cathodic protection systems, firefighting systems, valves, loading arms and other ancillary equipment.

Scope of Work:
Inspections, hydrostatic tests and repair of all the storage tanks and piping sections on site, to store and transport products at full capacities in accordance with API Standards;
Reconnection to the Transnet feed pipeline infrastructure;
Inspection and upgrade of the firefighting system at both depots to fulfill South African National Standards;
Modification of gantry piping to fill road tankers with the different products being stored;
Creating a 3D model of both depots;
Rewriting of operation procedure for the depots;
Major Hazard Installation study for both depots; and
Electrical and control systems certification of compliance.
